Description

The TC-93043A Antenna Coupler is engineered to provide stable and repeatable RF coupling in the near-field electromagnetic environment of a Device Under Test (DUT) when used inside an RF Shield Box. Designed to work seamlessly with shielded test enclosures from TESCOM, this antenna coupler supports accurate radiated measurements across a wide frequency range.

Operating from 2 GHz to 7.5 GHz, the TC-93043A Antenna Coupler is commonly used for wireless device validation where consistency and repeatability are critical. Its design makes it especially effective for applications that require near-field testing while simulating far-field behavior inside a Faraday cage.

Near-Field Testing with Far-Field Simulation

Unlike traditional small inductive couplers, the TC-93043A Antenna Coupler allows placement at a greater distance from the DUT antenna. This spacing enables engineers to test the entire wireless device assembly, including the antenna system, rather than coupling directly at a single point.

As a result, the antenna coupler improves test realism while maintaining repeatable RF performance. Engineers benefit from consistent measurements that closely reflect real-world device operation, even when testing inside a confined RF shielded environment.

For best results, install the TC-93043A using a mounting fixture and attach it to the ceiling of the Faraday cage. This configuration promotes stable signal coupling and minimizes unwanted reflections during testing.

RHCP Technology for GPS and GNSS Applications

The TC-93043A Antenna Coupler uses Right Hand Circular Polarization (RHCP), making it well suited for testing GPS, GNSS, and other satellite-based wireless devices. RHCP antennas align with how satellite signals propagate, which improves measurement accuracy during navigation and location-based testing.

Circularly polarized antennas—both RHCP and LHCP—help reduce interference caused by multipathing, a condition where reflected signals distort measurements. By suppressing these reflections, the TC-93043A delivers a cleaner RF signal and more reliable test results inside an RF Shield Box, also known as a Faraday cage.

For applications focused exclusively on GPS or GNSS validation, engineers may also consider antenna couplers designed specifically for those use cases.
